a post by sissimania Hi,
I would like to know if someone can tell me if Rudolf was really secretly married to Maria-Antonia of Habsburg-Tuscany in 1880. I read that the union was broke up by the Emperor and that the princess gave bird to a boy name Carl Rudolf Salvator (knows as Robert Pachmann later). That child is supposed to be the boy of Rodulf. Also, Rudolf is probably the father of Mizzi Caspar's daughter. Does someone know the name of this child ?
If you have any picture of Maria-Antonia it will be appreciate.
Thank you !

Very interesting question! In fact, I came upon that subject in a book authored by Dominique Paoli, entitled Sophie, duchesse d'Alençon. It is not mentioned in the book itself, but in one footnote. Basically, it says that Rudolph has reportedly married secretely his cousin Maria-Antonia of the Tuscan Habsburg branch, and a son was born in Cannes (France) in 1880. The son, known as Robert Pachmann, had children of his own, and so on, one of them having being granted the right to the Habsburg name by a Vienna Tribunal in 1996 (hence the «Pachmann affair»). That all the information contained in the book. Some Habsburg family trees do mention Robert Pachmann, but as a aside. Research on the Internet led me nowhere. I have tried to raise the question on another Forum, but the people there don't want to discuss it and qualify this as a silly rumour. To me, it is not silly. If really a tribunal in Vienna granted to someone the right to be called Theo of Habsburg, there must be official documents, a ruling, something. I don't know whether the marriage was annuled, broken or overlooked. All that I know is that Maria Antonia, who was always in poor health, died in France in 1885, presumably from tuberculosis.
